Winery Harvest Assistant 2024

The Harvest Assistant role is an integral part of the winemaking team and requires a hardworking, enthusiastic individual that takes pride in their work and thrives in a fast-paced environment.  If you are a hardworking, practical, and hands-on person with an interest in wine then we encourage you to apply. This is a contract position starting in August 2024 and lasting from 3-6 months.

 

Duties include:

Receive and process incoming grapes.
Undertake processing and cellar operations such as topping, racking, transferring, filtration, tank and barrel cleaning.
Keep areas and equipment sanitary.

Additional Information:

Competitive wage from $20 – $25 per hour.
4 to 6-day work week with 8+ hour shifts depending on the grapes.
Staff discounts in the restaurant and wine shop.
Opportunity to progress into other roles at Poplar Grove.

Requirements:

Post-secondary education and/or previous winery work is beneficial but not necessary.
Good practical abilities and sense of working efficiently with minimal supervision; understands that the most important tasks take priority.
Ability to lift and carry 25kg.
Shows understanding of winemaking principles and has a good understanding of relevant chemistry and technology.
Strongly focused on wine quality and cleanliness.
A careful, diligent, and thoughtful team player who works safely and assumes an attitude of ownership in the winery and strives towards overall goals of premium winery production.
