Munson Cabernet Franc Vintage Comparison

Comparison notes of vertical vintages to showcase the difference in growing years of the single vineyard Cabernet Franc. However current tasting notes are still an accurate description

We recommend decanting all vintages prior to enjoying a glass to allow the aromas and palate of the wine to open up.

Munson Mountain Cabernet Franc 2010:

Now presents as a brick red, a characteristic of a nicely aged red wine.  The original nose & palate characteristics remain but the aromas of fresh berry fruits come across more mulled with elements of plum and cassis. Earthy aromas of cedar & tobacco leaf have developed with a hint of smokiness.  The first sip still brings a bright acidity with red fruits such as raspberry & cherry with a hint of licorice & cocoa. Tannins are bold & velvety.

Munson Mountain Cabernet Franc 2011:

Appears as a deep burgundy in the glass and has become more aromatic over time. A floral scent has developed along with red fruit aromas of raspberry & red currant finished with a spicy note representing that of fern incense. Fruit flavours of dark cherry remain with a hint of cranberry. The wine still boasts big leathery tannins.

Munson Mountain Cabernet Franc 2012:

More burgundy in colour & the bouquet remains, but with more time in bottle supporting blackberry aromas have appeared. Dark berries and butterscotch vanilla are prevalent on the palate. The warmest growing season of the three vintages, combined with lengthy skin contact, reflects in the tannin and acidity of the wine. Well balanced with ripe fruits and soft tannins.
