Merlot Vintage Comparison
Comparison notes to previous vintages to explain development of the Merlot over time. However current tasting notes are still an accurate description.
Presents more brick red in colour. The nose picks up plum and tobacco with sage. The first taste brings an earthiness with hints of sage, cocoa and clove. Though the fresh berry fruit has dropped off with age, the Merlot had developed an illustrious rich plum flavour. This is deemed an elegantly aged Merlot which is drinking beautifully now.
The nose is greeted with warming aromas of clove, ginger and anise along with tobacco and vanilla. The Merlot presents an intense flavour of blueberry & vanilla. 21 months in oak, plus extra months cellared in bottle since its initial release, has aided the development of robust leathery tannins with enough structure to allow this wine to age as gracefully as the 2010.
